Once an offer has been accepted, we will issue an invoice and wait for payment to be completed.

The domain transfer process will begin once payment has cleared, or once the escrow provider confirms that the funds have been received.

We will then initiate the Nominet registrant transfer process, and the buyer will receive an email from Nominet containing a secure link to complete the transfer details.

For more information about how the transfer works, please see FAQ #2 below.

We will also be available to assist throughout the transfer process if you have any questions or require help completing the steps.

When a domain purchase has been agreed and payment has been received, we initiate the official Nominet domain transfer process.

Nominet is the official registry for all domain names ending in .UK, and manages the central database of domain ownership in the United Kingdom.

Nominet will send the buyer an email containing a secure link. Using this link, you will be asked to enter the new registrant (owner) details and select the registrar you would like the domain managed with for future use and renewals.

During this process you will also be asked for the ID of the registrar, known as the IPSTAG, which identifies the registrar that will manage the domain for you.

If you are unsure which registrar to use, you can view the full list of .UK accredited registrars here:
https://registrars.nominet.uk/uk-namespace/registrar-agreement/list-of-registrars/

Alternatively, if you already have a domain with a registrar, you may wish to check the help section of your existing registrar for their transfer-in process and IPSTAG details.

Once the form is completed, the registrant change is processed instantly and the domain is transferred to your chosen registrar account.

The Nominet transfer link normally expires after around 5 days, so it is important to complete the process within that timeframe.

Yes. The price paid for the domain is a one-off payment for the full transfer of ownership of the domain name.

Nominet normally charges a £12 registrant transfer fee when a .UK domain changes ownership. As part of the sales process, we cover this transfer fee.

Before initiating the transfer, we will also renew the domain name for the maximum period allowed, noting that the expiry date of a .UK domain cannot exceed 10 years.

This means the domain will typically be renewed for around 9–10 years before the transfer is completed, so the buyer will usually not need to pay any domain renewal fees for several years.

Once the domain is in your registrar account, the only costs you may incur are hosting services when you decide to use the domain, and future renewal fees once the registration period eventually expires.

Typical .UK renewal fees charged by registrars are usually around £7–£20 per year, depending on the registrar.

We accept PayPal for payments up to £500. For higher amounts, PayPal may still be available but a small additional fee may apply to cover PayPal processing charges.

Bank transfer is also accepted and is commonly used for higher-value domain purchases.

We can also complete transactions using secure third-party escrow services such as escrow.com or transpact.com, providing additional protection for both buyer and seller.

Yes. During the Nominet transfer process you will be asked to specify the registrar where you would like the domain to be managed in future.

You will need to provide the IPSTAG of your chosen registrar when completing the transfer form.

If you do not already have an account with a registrar, you may need to create one before completing the transfer.

Some registrars also require that a transfer-in request or order is placed in advance, so that the domain can be matched to the correct account when the registrant change takes place.

It is therefore recommended that you check the help section of your chosen registrar for their transfer-in process and IPSTAG details.

Yes. The transfer is completed through Nominet, the official registry for all domain names ending in .UK, which securely manages the ownership records for these domains.

The registrant change is processed directly through Nominet, ensuring the domain ownership is updated at the registry level.

For higher-value transactions, we can also use trusted third-party escrow services such as escrow.com or transpact.com. With escrow, payment is held securely and the seller only receives the funds once the buyer confirms the domain transfer has been completed successfully and authorises the release of the payment.

The domain transfer itself is processed instantly by Nominet once the buyer completes the transfer form sent via the Nominet email link.

The overall timing therefore depends on how quickly the buyer completes this step after receiving the link.

The transfer link normally expires after around 5 days, so it is recommended to complete the process as soon as possible.

Yes. Even if a domain has a fixed price listed, you can still submit an offer. The seller may accept the offer, decline it, or respond with a counter-offer.

If both parties reach an agreement, we will then proceed with the purchase and domain transfer process.

Buyers should only submit an offer if they are genuinely interested in purchasing the domain. Once an offer has been accepted, the buyer is expected to proceed with payment so the transfer process can begin.

We understand that circumstances can sometimes change. If payment is not received, the transaction will normally be cancelled after around 10 days and the domain may be made available again.

If payment is not made and no explanation is provided, future offers from the same buyer may not be accepted.

If payment has been received and the domain transfer has been successfully completed, the sale is final and refunds are not available.

Payment plans may be available for selected higher-value domains on a case-by-case basis.

No. Purchasing a domain name transfers ownership of the domain itself only.

Any trademarks, company names, business registrations, or other intellectual property rights relating to the name are separate and are not included in the domain sale.

Domains listed for sale on our platform must be owned by the seller and eligible for transfer.

Before completing a sale, we verify that the seller has control of the domain and is able to complete the registrant transfer through Nominet.

For additional peace of mind, if requested we can temporarily redirect the domain to a URL of the potential buyer’s choice, demonstrating that we have control of the domain and the ability to manage it.

The transfer of ownership is completed through Nominet, the official registry for .UK domain names, ensuring the domain ownership record is updated securely.
